Thoughts and Memories

Uncle Tom loved his ever expanding family whole-heartedly. He raised numerous children without a second thought. The love of Uncle Tom is unconditional and awe inspiring. I never doubted the love from my Uncle Tom. Every time I saw him he would tell me how much he loved me and how much I meant to him. He would say that I was his only Moran niece and he loved that. I have always been grateful for having Uncle Tom in my life. My family took the death of this great man very hard. The love and support that most families get from their grandparents is what we got from Aunt Sharon and Uncle Tom. They were always with us to celebrate our achievements, high School and College Graduations and a Wedding, birthdays, everything. . They would without thought make the trip to visit us and to support us. Uncle Tom would do the most meaningful and biggest things in the smallest nonchalant ways. He would go out of his way to alter a recipe to exclude pork for me. He remembered that I didn’t eat pork even though he only cooked for me about twice a year. A day I will always remember is the day he gave me the recipe for Uncle Tom sauce. He often drove me to the airport after my trips to Phoenix. As we get out getting my bags he gives me a hug and hands me 2 pieces of paper and all he said was “I want you to have this.” That little gesture meant to much to me before and even more now. My Uncle Tom will forever live on in that recipe. New family members and additions may not get the opportunity to know that great man behind the recipe, but they can experience the greatest of Uncle Tom Sauce. It’s a rare man that will cook for an entire university lacrosse team. He literally gave them everything he had without a second thought. He loved taking care of his family, immediate and extended. He loved sharing his food with everyone. Watching him teach Tanner and Avery to cook during one of my visit was a beautiful site. Uncle Tom meant so much to so many people. He truly touched many people and that’s really all we can ask for in life. He had a great family, lots of love and lots of laughter. I will forever be grateful for the Sunday I had with Uncle Tom. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things to do, but I am happy I had the opportunity to tell him how much I loved him. Phoenix and life milestones will never be the same. You will be missed. I love you Uncle Tom. Thank you for everything. It is with a heavy heart that I say Goodbye to my favorite Uncle. Uncle Tom was an amazing uncle, brother, husband, father, and grandpa he will be missed by all.
